JIMIFIEDbio
Jimmy Johnson is an American artist, composer and scientist. He attended high school at the North Carolina School of the Arts where he studied classical guitar with Arron Shearer. In 1993 he became Art Center College of Design's youngest faculty member and taught the "Audio for Digital Media" courses until 1997. He has collaborated with visual artists for over twenty years, most notably Jennifer Steinkamp. They have created over 30 original pieces together. Their work has been exhibited at the Getty, MoCA, LACMA and is a part of the permenant collection at the Corcoran. He has released music on Astralwerks, Moonshine, Virgin, Domestic and Fragrant Records. In addition, Jimmy has composed scores for major film, television and commercial productions. He is currently employed as a researcher by the University of Washington's Psychology Department where he is exploring the role social learning plays in the developement of echolocation and communication calls of eptesicus fuscus, the big brown bat, in Dr. Ellen Covey's auditory neuroscience lab.
